The duties of a police officer, also known as a law enforcement officer, focus on protecting people and property. They patrol the areas they are assigned to, which sometimes includes entire jurisdictions, responding to calls, enforce laws, make arrests, issue citations, and occasionally testify in court cases. They often make traffic stops, respond to domestic disturbances, and, at times, provide first aid to someone involved in a traffic accident or injured in a domestic dispute until paramedics arrive. Much of their time is divided between patrolling, writing reports, and filling out forms. duties and responsibilities are prevention of crime, investigation of alert offences and maintenance of law and order.

Firefighters are primarily responsible for responding to fires, accidents and other incidents where risks are posed to life and property. This is a very dangerous profession and a special type of person is needed to fill this position. Not everyone is prepared to rush into a burning building or attempt to pull someone from a car which has caught alight.

Park managers are responsible for ensuring that land and all its natural resources under their protection, are maintained in good condition, as well as conserved for maximum biodiversity. Town and regional planning is a career in both the civil service and private sectors. It entails being an expert in creating a development arrangement that will be used in future by the authorities responsible for development control, in order to assess whether proposed uses of land and buildings conform to long-term development objectives.
